HERE IS AN AWESOME POEM BECAUSE TODAY IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!

Ka-boom!
Bam! Pow! Bop!
I killed you both ha ha
Like flashes of lightning so high in the sky
Some so easily led to the dark side
And was said once to a man:
with great power comes great responsibility
The capes are fine, but why the tights?

Since I'm in the process of moving anyway, I decided to try the 100 Thing Challenge. There's no way I'm going to get down to 100 things if I count everything individually because I easily have 100+ books, so I'm sort of making up my own rules as I go along. I'm not counting all my books as a single thing, but I am counting each series as a single thing. Same thing with TV shows, games, whatever. Also, since the guy who did the original challenge didn't include anything that was considered a "family" item, I decided to give myself a bonus 50 things to give me a little room for my dishes/cookware. I'm curious to see if I can actually manage to get under 150 things, but mostly, I just want to assess everything I own and determine whether or not actually use it and get rid of anything that I don't need. I'm going to post a list of things I'm keeping eventually. 8D

Two questions for writers types:

When you edit something, do you retype the whole thing or do you just go back and correct your typos/punctuation/whatever? Does it depend on if you're writing fiction or nonfiction (such as an essay for school)? Do you do it for some drafts but not others?

If you write both short stories and long stories, how do you tell which a particular story is going to be? Do you just know? Do you have to make a decision? I know some writers have written novels based on short stories, but I'm not sure if this is a common thing or not.

Just curious!

I am writing a bunch of poetry for a project in my women's studies class and, wow, am I rusty! I have all these concepts I want to write poems about, but I'm not really a "poem" person. I usually write haiku, if anything, but a lot of these concepts are too big to adequately address in seventeen syllables. I am really inspired to work on a story that I have been wanting to write for months, but have so far been unable to express on paper.

el_em_en_oh_pee linked me to the disney website for Little Mermaid III and--as much as I absolutely hate disney sequels--I kinda wanna see it.

I just finished Carrie and oh my god, I finally understand what everyone means when they rave about how amazing King is. That last scene was so utterly killer.

I feel like all my posts lately are about ZOMG SRS BIZNESS. Nevertheless, I wish people who stop being dumbfucks and judging people for what kind of music this listen to.

The next person who bashes "I Kissed a Girl" in front of me is going to get fucking bitch slapped.

I happen to like the song. I think it's catchy. It doesn't objectify women. If anything, I think it's sort of empowering. Like "I want to try this new experience/do this thing, so I went ahead and did it and oh, hey, I even enjoyed it!"
